Beautiful Architecture | La Torre del Visco Review| Destination Wedding Photographer

This phenomenal hotel set deep in the Matarraña countryside will blow you away. The still beauty and light whispers of nature will make you fall in love on first meeting. Myself and Miguel had the pleasure visiting the hotel over easter, the wonderful staff walked us through each of spacious but cosy rooms which boasted large fireplaces and many architectural features.

If you haven’t visited Matarraña before I highly recommend situated north east of Spain just on the boarder of the colourful catalunya boarder. It has the sophistication of northern Spain but with more heart and warmth it makes a perfect get away for any coming from Barcelona or Madrid looking to disconnect from the world. With good links to major airports it is even possible for U.K. and other european visitors to journey there for a retreat.

I fell in love with the soft colour pallet and tonal greens and enjoyed wandering the gardens and listening to the birds. I think it would also make the ideal location for a small intimate wedding, which they currently offer. I can imagine guests being wowed as they explore the venue and the backdrops would be so stunning for bridal portraits.

Some of the features which made this hotel so personable was the honesty bar which was open for you to serve your own bevrages when you liked and the library which had some amazing books in various languages to sit and enjoy. Also a feature which always makes me happy is that you can bring along your dog… which is a feature we hugely appreciate since getting Margaret our sweet puppy.

I hope it isn’t long before I find myself back at this dream hotel!

Wedding Inspiration from Monasterio de Piedra , España | Fotografía de boda en film Zaragoza

Fotografía de Bodas Zaragoza | Monasterio de Pedirá Boda

Last autumn I had the pleasure of holding my first european film photography workshop in Monasterio de Piedra. We gathered together in the twelfth century monastery to explore the beauty of film photography. Students came from all over to learn with me and Jessie Thomson some as far as Dubai and Manila, Philippines. We put together some simple bridal inspiration using the pantone colours of 2016 Rose Quartz and Serenity along with other soft pastels.

The beautiful ancient setting was a perfect backdrop, a must see for anyone passing through the area from Barcelona to Madrid. Spain’s rich colour palette add real depth to these images and the stillness of the setting emulates through the photographs.

The idea behind the shoot was “From Farm to Table” a unique rustic idea using very simple styling for your wedding or  engagement shoot. We wanted to show how simple and delicate styling can be achieved by both stylist and photographer.

Fine Art Wedding Workshops | Illuminated Collective - Fine Art and Film Wedding Workshops

As a photographer I choose to see beauty in amongst the places I encounter, taking time to stop and observe my surroundings. To really look at the colours, the way the light effects the shapes of various objects and how aged buildings have a real sense of establishment amidst nature. So when a few months ago my sweet husband took me to visit the Monasterio de Piedra a stones throw from our new home in Spain I couldn’t help but fall so deeply in love with it. Its dilapidated bricks and ancient painted walls and soft warm colour pallet had me smitten as I wandered through the breath taking corridors into these grand open spaces.

I knew that I wanted to share this newly found treasure with my fellow photographers so along with Jessie Thomson, Katie Julia and Amy Bowley we are bringing the second Illuminated Collective Workshop to Spain for a two day event of embracing our inner artist, how to market yourself and find your place in a sea of wedding photographers and lots and lots of shooting!

If you haven’t already read or heard about the workshop please feel free to pop over to www.illuminatedcollective.co.uk for more information and to reserve your place.

The workshop will take place over two days in September 14th and 15th and will boast many local and international sponsors/speakers for the affordable price of £850.00

I will be focusing on teaching the mechanics of film photography, shooting with a view to Fine Art Photography and finding your inner artist. Where as Katie will be focusing on placing yourself in the luxury wedding market, how to attract brides who focus on the aesthetics of a wedding and showing you hands on how she achieves her effortlessly beautiful photographs. Jessie and Amy will be styling along with discussing and demonstrating food styling, how to be seen by wedding planners and stylists and putting together two full styled shoots.

I look forward to making lots of new friends learning from each other, passing on my knowledge which I have gathered after working in the industry so long and then watching everyone fulfil their dreams!

Below are some images I have taken whilst walking around the Monastery and the surrounding areas:

Back in July I joined my boyfriend to explore the beautiful Catalonian countryside in Spain, which very shortly I will be calling home! I have decided to take the leap of love and move to sunnier climates to be with my love a little more. I want to share with those who follow the blog our beautiful surroundings… I love this country so much especially here in the country side full of good people, food and steeped in culture.

I will be forever thankful to Natalie and Mark for introducing me to the beautiful island of Ischia just off of the coast on Naples, Italy. Myself and Faye ventured there late June for their stunning destination wedding, we spent a few days before their wedding day wandering through the cobbled streets and admiring the historic castle in all its glory.

We fell quickly for this charming island with the most beautiful scenes and the most crystal azure waters surrounding it I couldn’t think of a better place to spend a few tranquil days relaxing!

More on the blog over the following days of this beautiful Island and their destination wedding and engagement shoot.
